Steve has only recently begun writing fiction for children and young adults, following years of making a living as a performance poet – mainly running workshops in schools and holding writing residencies in weird and wonderful places such as Battersea Dogs’ Home and Hamleys Toy Shop. He has performed his poems on BBC1, Channel 4 and on the 21 Bus (in collaboration with the Arts Council and London Transport), many of which can be found on YouTube. His latest role as writer-in-residence is for Dickens 2012.

His poems have also appeared in a number of anthologies, including The Poetry Store (Hodder), and his first story for young adults appears in the anthology How To Be A Boy (Walker Books 2012). Walker published his first novel, Blood Donors, as part of their Undercover range in 2013.
