This eagerly awaited sequel to Winter Sleep and Busy Spring, Wild Summer: Life in the Heat is another beautiful picture book about nature.

Just like Busy Spring, Wild Summer mixes non-fiction and fiction. The story of the hottest season is told through a child and her grandfather’s summer walk along the coast. As they walk through a meadow, a stream, sandy heathland, pine woods, cliffs and a rocky cove, the girl learns the ways summer affects each habitat and its wildlife. And there’s balance here, between the season of plenty and the reality of climate change.
