Named after a tragic Shakespearean heroine, Clare has always been called by her middle name because she more closely resembled a small orangutan than fair Juliet. Always fascinated by why people behave the way they do, she started out as a developmental psychologist before writing stories where she could ponder over her characters' behaviour in the comfort of her own home, which she shares with her three endlessly fascinating (and entertaining) children.
