Nici Gregory started illustrating whilst still in primary school, drawing in the margins of her exercise books. Through her formative years, she avidly followed the work of book illustrators. Subsequently, after studying graphic design in Hamburg, she went on to work as an in-house illustrator for a marketing firm in Sheffield.

Upon realising that her work in the margins (mostly animals in fancy clothes) continued to be her best work, she ultimately left the world of marketing. Choosing instead to create animal characters for children full-time, she never looked back.
