Illustrator and author Polly Noakes lives in a windswept cottage in North Yorkshire. Her charming new picture book Just the Two Of Us, about a small girl and her imaginary friend, comes out with Andersen in 2024.
With a love of lyrical storytelling, Polly's recently developed her writing. Creating new stories, alongside a fresh new illustration style.
She grew up in a busy and creative household in Cambridge. Initially studying illustration at Cambridge School Of Art, she subsequently returned years later - graduating from the MA in Children’s Book Illustration.
Over the years she's illustrated her own stories - like The Very Long Sleep and Hide and Seek, published by Child's Play.
Polly's also illustrated texts by other authors. Like Jonathan Emmett's A Present for Rosy - published by Walker in 2022. And anthologies by Edward Blishen, young readers by Mary Hoffman and Sarah Lean.
She's worked with Harper Collins, Macmillan, Dorling Kindersley, Usborne Books and Orion.
The Sleepytime Music Book by Sam Taplin came out with Usborne in 2022.
